Freda Duan: GOOGL and SpaceX announce $920 million monthly GPU deal
Freda Duan analyzes a new agreement between GOOGL and SpaceX involving GPU procurement. The monthly deal is valued at $920 million for 110,000 GPUs, translating to approximately $11.50 per GPU-hour.
Duan notes that Colossus 2 utilizes mainly GB200 and GB300 GPUs, referencing public information. She also points to public-market lease rates for the GB200 and GB200 NVL72 GPUs.
Duan previously estimated Colossus 1 annual rent at $6 billion, citing public data on Anthropic's payments to SpaceX of approximately $15 billion per year, as reported here. Anthropic's updated S-1/A filing disclosed $1.25 billion in monthly payments through May 2029, with adjustments planned for 2026, according to a separate report. These figures provide additional context for the new GOOGL–SpaceX agreement.
