Andy Constan, founder / strategist at Damped Spring Macro, raises the idea of a potential ETF focused on the so-called Fab 5 semiconductor names: 8035, KLAC, ASML, AMAT, and LRCX.
He suggests this group of stocks could be attractive for such a fund and considers a strategy of shorting storage and memory against being long the Fab 5, while also mentioning the possibility of adding INTC and TSM to the short side.
Constan has commented on other equity strategies in recent months. He previously noted that debates over GOOG’s equity raises often overlook ongoing share distributions to employees. He has also pointed to investor challenges during a downturn for those long BTC and MSTR.
