Luke Gromen, founder, president, macroeconomic analyst, investor at FFTT, LLC (Forest for the Trees), reports that U.S. Veterans' Benefits payments now account for a record 27 percent of total U.S. Defense Department spending, based on figures from 1959 to the present.
According to Gromen, veterans benefits are increasing at a pace that outstrips both overall Department of Defense spending and total U.S. federal receipts. He also notes that these payments now comprise roughly 8 percent of total federal receipts.
Gromen has previously examined global economic influences on U.S. markets. He recently noted shifting neoliberal views on China as concerns mount over threats to U.S. corporate profits in a past analysis. He has also questioned the rationale behind U.S. oil exports in exchange for dollars, citing potential economic implications.
