Ethereum L1 development lags behind L2 rollups, Pedro Gomes points out
Ethereum roadmap calls for L1 L2 unity

Pedro Gomes raises concerns about the pace of development between Ethereum Layer-1 (L1) and Layer-2 (L2) rollups.

He notes that while Vitalik's roadmap for Ethereum appears strong, it does not solve the issue of Ethereum L1 upgrades taking years compared to the quicker advancement of L2 rollups. Gomes suggests a shared roadmap for L1 and L2 progress to prevent further fragmentation in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Gomes has previously analyzed how tokens function as utility metrics and the energy demands resulting from mining in the crypto sector, as detailed in an earlier article. In a separate report, he covered WalletConnect’s partnership with Base and Optimism to introduce native account abstraction and enhance Layer-2 rollups using EIP-8130, as described here. These topics align with his ongoing examination of Ethereum’s infrastructure and scalability.
