Hackers send 3400 BTC back to original address, Alex Thorn reveals
Liquid hackers return 3400 BTC to federation

Alex Thorn reports that hackers targeting the Liquid Federation blockchain have returned 3400 BTC, or about 85% of the assets initially stolen, following extended dialogue with Blockstream through OP_RETURN messages.

According to Thorn, the remaining 598.5 BTC, estimated at around $47 million, has not been returned and appears to have been kept by the hackers, representing about 15% of the total loot.

Earlier, Alex Thorn reported that liquid white hats planned to return most of the 4,000 BTC stolen after a bug in the Liquid Network was fixed and communication was established with Blockstream, according to a previous article. In a separate case, Thorn covered how the Coldcard Wave 3 hacker moved stolen funds to ETH via THORChain, marking the first on-chain transfer as noted in another report. Both incidents highlight ongoing challenges in securing digital assets.
