Scott Bessent: Discusses U.S.-Republic of Korea economic and financial relationship with Deputy Prime Minister Lee
U.S.-Korea economic and financial ties discussed

Scott Bessent, 79th U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and founder of Key Square Group, announced that he spoke virtually with Republic of Korea Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy Lee Hyoung-il, congratulating Lee on his new role. Bessent also highlighted the importance of the U.S.-Republic of Korea economic and financial relationship during the conversation.

Bessent previously reported that the U.S. Treasury and IRS issued guidance targeting tax-driven investment strategies and prearranged section 351 transactions, according to an earlier article. He has also pointed to the creation of over one million private-sector jobs since January 2025 and a declining federal workforce, as noted in a separate report. These developments follow Bessent’s ongoing engagement on U.S. economic policy.
