Google shares declined almost 9% in post-market trading following the release of its third-quarter earnings report.

Jordan Kerridge reported that the company posted earnings per share of $2.12, below the expected $3.015, representing a miss of 29.69%. Revenue came in at $127.58 billion versus an expected $127.96 billion, a shortfall of $385 million or 0.30%.

Earlier this week, Jordan Kerridge reported that the U.S. Treasury plans to buy back up to $6 billion of longer-term debt to support market liquidity. In a separate update, Kerridge highlighted that Iran has conditioned reopening the Strait of Hormuz on U.S. acceptance of its terms. Both developments have kept market attention on major policy and geopolitical risk factors.
