IBM stock remains under pressure ahead of the company's final second-quarter earnings report on July 22. While oversold conditions increase the probability of a rebound, the stock must reclaim $212 to strengthen the recovery scenario.
IBM will report earnings after the market closes on July 22, with the conference call scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET. The company released its preliminary second-quarter results on July 14, meaning much of the initial market reaction has already taken place.
Investors will now focus on the final financial results, management's guidance, commentary on corporate AI spending, and updates on the company's product pipeline.

Recovery hinges on a return above resistance
From a technical perspective, RSI (14) indicates that IBM stock remains in oversold territory, increasing the probability of a short-term rebound. However, the risk of further downside has not disappeared.
The $212 level remains the key reference point. If the regular trading session opens below this level and the stock fails to recover quickly, the decline could extend toward support at $204.30, representing potential downside of about 3.5%.
Conversely, a move back above $212 and a sustained hold above this level would strengthen the probability of a technical recovery. In that case, the next upside target would be the $220 resistance area.
IBM benefits from U.S. focus on technology leadership
IBM remains a strategically important U.S. technology company, particularly in government IT contracts, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and quantum computing.
The current U.S. administration's focus on strengthening domestic technology leadership and digital sovereignty could continue to support IBM's long-term positioning.
