Profit-taking pressures Moderna stock ahead of earnings
The 50-day SMA is the key test before earnings.

Moderna shares continue to pull back after gaining more than 95% in June and early July. The stock’s reaction at $57.50 will determine whether a recovery remains possible ahead of the July 31 earnings report.

With no significant company-specific news in recent days, profit-taking has become the main driver following the stock’s sharp rally.

The next major catalyst will be Moderna’s quarterly earnings report on July 31. Investors will focus on the company’s cash burn, vaccine sales and updates on key clinical programs.

Downside risk grows below $57.50

Following its rapid advance, Moderna stock has entered a natural correction. Key support for today’s session stands at $57.50, close to the 50-day SMA.

If buyers defend this level, the stock could stage a local rebound and recover above the psychological $60 mark.

A decisive break and sustained move below $57.50, however, would weaken the medium-term technical structure and open the way toward the nearest liquidity zone at $54.80–$56.30.

Correction remains technical ahead of earnings

Profit-taking after the stock nearly doubled still looks like a natural correction rather than confirmation of a broader trend reversal. However, failure to hold the 50-day SMA would increase selling pressure ahead of the July 31 earnings report.
