IBM stock reclaims 200-day SMA as new cloud and security products support recovery
IBM is trying to extend its recovery after reclaiming the 200-day SMA as new cloud and security products support sentiment. The next test is whether buyers can clear $255.60–260 and open the way toward $270.
IBM introduced Cloud Secrets Manager Vault Dedicated, a new service built on HashiCorp Vault Enterprise. The product allows enterprise customers to centrally manage sensitive data, credentials and AI-agent access without having to maintain the underlying infrastructure themselves.
The company also announced the availability of IBM Cloud Migration Hub, a platform designed to simplify the migration of enterprise systems to virtual private clouds. Together, the two launches strengthen IBM’s offering across hybrid cloud and enterprise security.

IBM stock faces resistance at $255.60–260 after reclaiming 200 SMA
IBM stock followed the scenario outlined previously. The price reached the $244 target before recovering above the 200-day SMA and testing $250.95.
In premarket trading on November 4, the stock is up more than 1%. The nearest resistance sits in the $255.60–260 zone. A break above the upper end of that range could accelerate the recovery toward $270.
A drop back below the 200-day SMA and a sustained move under it would invalidate this setup. In that case, the risk of a decline toward $240 would rise sharply.
Political uncertainty could complicate IBM's recovery
Despite the positive product updates, IBM’s short-term performance remains sensitive to broader market sentiment. The Democratic election victory has increased uncertainty around the future direction of AI regulation, although the specific implications for IBM’s business remain unclear.
At the same time, the move back above the 200-day SMA suggests buyers are trying to regain control. Even so, political uncertainty means the improved technical setup does not rule out another round of sharp price swings.
