InstaForex review: Lucky Trader and Sniper use different demo contest models
InstaForex continues to run two regular demo contests at once — Lucky Trader and InstaForex Sniper — relying on different models for selecting winners among participants trading on demo accounts. The first is held every two weeks and evaluates performance based on the total of profitable and losing trades in points, while the second runs weekly and is focused on account size at the end of the contest.
Highlights
- InstaForex runs two demo contests at the same time: Lucky Trader every two weeks and Sniper weekly.
- Lucky Trader uses a points-based ranking, while Sniper is based on the final account size.
- In both cases, participants trade on demo accounts, and the prize amounts themselves cannot be withdrawn directly.
Both contests do not require a real deposit: participants trade on demo accounts with a preset starting balance. For Lucky Trader, the initial deposit is $30,000, the contest lasts two weeks, and the prize pool for one round is listed at $3,000. For Sniper, the starting balance is lower at $10,000, the contest period is one week, and the weekly prize pool is $1,500.
Two competition models
The main difference between the contests lies in how winners are determined.
In Lucky Trader, the ranking is calculated as the total profit on winning trades minus losses on losing trades, measured in points. Prizes are distributed among eight participants, ranging from $1,000 for first place to $50 for eighth place. At the same time, the prize itself cannot be withdrawn directly, but profits earned through subsequent trading can be withdrawn.
Sniper is structured differently. Here, the winners are the traders with the largest account balances at the end of the week. Prizes are awarded to five participants: $500, $400, $300, $200, and $100 for first through fifth places, respectively. There is also an additional requirement for receiving the prize: at least 5 percent of the total profit must come from trades in GBP/USD and another 5 percent from GBP/JPY.
It is also stated that Expert Advisors are allowed in the contest, and that a winner of one round cannot claim a prize again in the following month.
How to participate
The participation procedure is similar for both contests:
- Register and join the relevant contest.
- Open a demo account.
- Receive the starting balance: $30,000 for Lucky Trader or $10,000 for Sniper.
- Trade with 1:500 leverage.
- Use trade sizes from 0.01 to 1 lot.
What these contests show about the retail segment
From a practical standpoint, Lucky Trader and Sniper show how InstaForex separates its audience by trading style.
One format rewards consistency of results in points over a two-week period, while the other favors a more aggressive weekly race for the highest balance.
It is this difference in mechanics, not just the prize size, that makes the two contests distinct products within one promotional lineup.
In an earlier report, we noted that InstaForex enhances trading infrastructure with low-latency VPS.
