As global markets enter the holiday period, eToro has issued an advance notice to clients regarding adjusted trading hours and market closures during Christmas and Boxing Day, underscoring the need for traders to prepare for reduced liquidity and limited access across several asset classes.
According to the platform, multiple global markets will be closed or operating on shortened schedules from Wednesday to Friday, December 24–26, 2025, reflecting standard holiday observances across major financial centers. The changes apply to equities, indices, commodities, and other instruments tied to regional exchanges observing Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
Holiday trading sessions are typically marked by lower volumes, wider spreads, and heightened price gaps, particularly during early closures or full-day shutdowns. Markets linked to the United Kingdom, parts of Europe, and select Commonwealth countries are traditionally affected on Boxing Day, while U.S. and European exchanges often operate on reduced hours or remain closed on Christmas Day.
eToro advised users to review instrument-specific schedules in advance, as opening and closing times may vary by asset and exchange. The platform emphasized that trading availability will resume according to normal schedules once the holiday period concludes.
eToro outlined practical steps for users navigating the holiday period:
1. Log in to the eToro platform and review updated market hours
2. Check open positions for assets affected by holiday closures
3. Adjust risk management settings, including stop-loss and take-profit levels
4. Monitor liquidity conditions, particularly during early closures
These measures are designed to help traders manage exposure during periods of reduced market activity.
Founded in 2007, eToro operates a global multi-asset trading platform offering access to stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, commodities, indices, and CFDs. The platform is widely known for its social trading and copy trading features, which allow users to follow and replicate the strategies of experienced investors.
As markets wind down for the year, traders will be watching how thin holiday liquidity affects price behavior. eToro’s update serves as a reminder that calendar events remain an important operational consideration, particularly during year-end trading conditions.
In an earlier report, we noted that eToro launches 1% stock rewards for crypto deposits.
