Hawaiian Electric to close lane

Hawaiian Electric will close the far-right eastbound lane of Kapiolani Blvd between Kaaha and Mahiai Streets on Friday, June 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to install and replace utility poles and related equipment in support of the Kuilei Place condominium construction in Moiliili.

The works are part of an infrastructure upgrade to support new residential developments in the area. Drivers in Honolulu are advised to anticipate traffic delays and plan alternative routes during the closure. The project is expected to enhance utility reliability and safety along this critical corridor.

Hawaiian Electric recently restored power to remaining customers in Waikiki following an outage, targeting completion by noon on the day of the repairs, according to a previous update. The company has also sought input from residents through a survey focused on shaping Hawaii’s future clean energy grid, as detailed in a recent notice. These efforts are part of ongoing initiatives to enhance infrastructure and system resilience in the region.
