Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. announced that the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is set to receive a first-of-its-kind nuclear reactor, following the kickoff meeting for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission review on June 23.
Representatives from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. participated in the event, marking a major step forward in advancing nuclear innovation in academic research and application.
Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. recently entered U.S. regulatory review for its KRONOS MMR, which became the first commercial microreactor to reach this stage in the licensing process. Earlier this year, the company announced a UAE microreactor strategy aimed at supporting Middle East energy diversification and reducing hydrocarbon reliance. These developments come as the firm advances its U.S. research reactor project with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
