SoundThinking alert aids LVMPD arrest

SoundThinking reported that a ShotSpotter alert prompted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) to respond to a fatal shooting near downtown Las Vegas on June 27.

According to the company, detectives leveraged surveillance video and ballistics evidence following the initial alert to identify and later arrest a suspect on September 21.

SoundThinking has previously partnered with RedSpeed and PlateRanger to deliver school-zone speed enforcement solutions with integrated automatic license plate recognition at no upfront cost, according to a prior announcement. The company has also addressed privacy concerns related to its PlateRanger technology during law enforcement rollouts, pledging transparency in deployment practices, as reported earlier this year. These developments highlight SoundThinking’s ongoing involvement with law enforcement agencies.
