Investor attention is turning to another major artificial intelligence listing as Anthropic moves toward the public market after rapid growth in generative AI. The five-year-old company says it plans to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, setting up a closely watched test of demand for AI stocks amid rising concerns over sector spending.
Highlights
- Anthropic filed to list on Nasdaq under ticker 'ANT,' revealing its financials to the SEC in June ahead of public release.
- Anthropic's 2026 growth outlook hinges on escalating demand for Claude Code and upcoming models Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
- Anthropic's IPO faces heightened market scrutiny as neocloud peers like CoreWeave and Nebius lost over 30% in October amid rising data center credit risks.
Filing sets out market debut plans
As reported by CNBC, Anthropic says in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "ANT." The company behind Claude filed with the SEC in June, giving the agency time to review its financials before they were made available to the public and prospective investors.Chief executive Dario Amodei co-founded Anthropic in 2021 after leaving OpenAI with a small group of researchers. Since then, the company has become one of the central names in the generative AI boom, with Claude products gaining traction among corporate customers seeking new revenue opportunities and internal efficiency gains.
Anthropic says its expansion accelerates in 2026, driven largely by demand for the AI coding tool Claude Code and newer models including Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. The company is also trying to preserve its competitive position against rivals such as OpenAI and Google while facing criticism over its views on safety, regulation and national security, including two high-profile disputes with the U.S. government in recent months.
IPO tests AI market appetite
Anthropic's planned offering is arriving only months after SpaceX debuted on the Nasdaq in what the article describes as the biggest IPO on record, raising $85.7 billion. SpaceX shares have been volatile since that June debut and finished last week slightly below their opening level. That backdrop adds pressure to Anthropic's market debut as Wall Street grows more cautious about whether spending on AI services will justify the trillions of dollars expected to be poured into infrastructure. So-called neocloud companies such as CoreWeave and Nebius have lost more than 30% of their value in October as credit risk rises across the data center sector.
In our earlier coverage of the AI-linked tech selloff, we explained how hotter inflation data revived rate-hike expectations and pushed investors to reassess the cost of financing large-scale AI spending. We also noted that heavily leveraged names tied to data centers and cloud infrastructure came under particular pressure, reinforcing broader caution toward the AI trade.
