Solana outperforms Bitcoin and Ethereum as altcoin rotation heats up
RWA activity and Transaction v1 support Solana’s fundamentals

Solana continues to outperform Bitcoin and Ethereum, although SOL remains inside a broad $97.50–107.50 range. At the fundamental level, the network continues to strengthen its position in real-world asset tokenization.

Allium data shows that over the 12 months through August 18, Solana accounted for $14.7 billion of the $46 billion in total spot trading volume for tokenized RWAs across 24 blockchains. That gives Solana roughly 32% of dollar-denominated volume and 47% of all RWA trades, despite representing only around 12% of the combined market capitalization of these assets.

Another near-term catalyst is Transaction v1, which is scheduled for mainnet activation today, September 9. The upgrade increases the maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes, allowing more complex zero-knowledge proofs, multisig instructions and other data-intensive operations to fit within a single transaction. Legacy transaction formats will remain supported.

SOL consolidates between $97.50 and $107.50

The setup outlined earlier played out. SOL retested the psychological $100 level, held it, returned toward resistance at $107.50 and then pulled back to around $105.

The price has now settled within a broader $97.50–107.50 range, and a decisive move beyond either boundary should determine the next short-term direction.

A loss of $97.50 would shift attention toward the $93.50–92 area, where the next potential demand zone is located. In the opposite scenario, a sustained move above $107.50 would open the way toward $110.50, while continued buying pressure could extend the advance toward $117.

The RSI (14) has moved close to overbought territory, making it less attractive to chase the price at current levels. At the same time, the 50-day and 200-day SMAs have formed a golden cross, supporting a more positive medium-term structure. This combination fits the current price action well: rather than starting another impulsive move, SOL is consolidating for now.

Altcoins are attracting more speculative capital

The past month has shown a noticeable shift in the character of the crypto market. SOL has gained roughly 38% over 30 days, compared with around 32% for Ethereum and about 22% for Bitcoin.

That is still not enough to confirm a broad rotation out of BTC and ETH or the start of a full-scale altseason. The market does, however, appear more willing to take risk in selected altcoins, where even relatively modest liquidity inflows can produce much larger moves than those currently seen in Bitcoin or Ethereum.
