Stablecoin launch and liquidations fuel Arbitrum volatility amid weak prices

Paxos has launched its $USDG stablecoin on the Arbitrum network, a development that increases the accessibility of stablecoin liquidity and could promote further engagement in decentralized finance, according to Coinfomania. This expansion may enhance user activity and transactional volumes across the platform’s ecosystem. Alongside this, Tokenpost reported that $250,000 in short liquidations occurred on major exchanges recently, accompanied by a market capitalization of approximately $1.33 billion for Arbitrum, signaling heightened activity and volatility conditions. These developments have emerged as the network faces pronounced intraday price weakness.

Bearish momentum prevails as ARB rejects multiple resistance levels

On the technical front, ARB/USD remains well below the MA-20 ($0.1946) and MA-50 ($0.1941) on the hourly chart, but continues to hold above the MA-200 ($0.1147) on the daily timeframe. The Ichimoku Kijun sits at $0.1942 as immediate resistance. Strongly bearish momentum signals are present: RSI stands at 35.553, with MACD and ADX both indicating sell conditions. CCI and Stochastic RSI are oversold, while Bull/Bear Power confirms sellers' dominance intraday, and the Awesome Oscillator aligns with the ongoing downtrend.

Downward bias remains as recovery odds diminish near term

Over the next 2–3 trading days, the projected price range for ARB is $0.1739 to $0.1945, reflecting typical volatility for current market conditions. The scenario probability is heavily skewed toward a downward move, with limited likelihood of a sustained recovery. Should price break above resistance at $0.1942, a test of the upper end of the range is possible, while a breach below $0.1739 would signal further weakness and an extension of the prevailing downtrend.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees Arbitrum’s technical structure as firmly bearish in the near term despite recent activity. He notes that the $USDG stablecoin adds important utility, but sustained price weakness and dominance of sellers leave little room for a strong recovery. Defensive signals on all major indicators support a cautious stance. "Until ARB convincingly reclaims the $0.1942 resistance, I remain on the sidelines and see downside as the base case for the next few sessions."

Earlier, analysts pointed to Arbitrum's sustained bullish momentum supported by strong technical indicators and increased network concentration. The recent shift to pronounced downside pressure, despite heightened network activity and new stablecoin initiatives, underscores a prevailing bearish scenario with $0.1739 as the key level to watch for further weakness.
