Las Vegas Sphere distances itself from Dogwifhat meme coin hype
The Las Vegas Sphere has firmly denied any agreement to display Dogwifhat ($WIF), a meme coin that has gained traction in cryptocurrency circles, pushing back against claims made by its supporters.
A spokesperson for the Sphere told that no official arrangement was ever made. “We have never had a deal with Dogwifhat, and our agency at the time only had one very preliminary conversation early last year,” the representative stated.
The venue also expressed concern over its name being used for misleading promotional purposes, according to Crypto News.
Dogwifhat supporters demand answers
The denial follows a now-deleted post from Dogwifhat’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, which claimed, “Officially confirmed. Viva hat vegas,” alongside an image of the meme dog appearing on the Sphere’s LED-covered exterior. The post was later edited to remove the confirmation while keeping the artwork, which suggested a potential campaign launch in Q1 2025.
In March 2024, a group of organizers reportedly raised funds from Dogwifhat supporters to secure an advertisement on the Sphere, leading to a surge in the token’s value to an all-time high of $4.83. However, with no campaign ever materializing, criticism mounted, and many in the community have demanded refunds.
The Sphere’s statement casts further doubt on whether the project ever had a legitimate path forward. As questions grow, the situation underscores the risks associated with speculative crypto-driven marketing campaigns that often rely on hype rather than concrete agreements.
Meanwhile, the Official TRUMP memecoin has recently sparked ongoing analysis of its impact on the cryptocurrency market. Despite reaching a $14.5 billion market cap in under a day and attracting 400,000 new crypto users, its effect on overall market capitalization remains minimal.
