  • The coalition also requested more specific tax guidelines for staking and mining rewards and a de minimis exemption for small crypto payments.

Regulatory clarity drives lobbying as privacy-coin rules face scrutiny

A coalition of 65 crypto-related firms has called on US regulators to clarify rules affecting digital assets, with recommendations that could impact privacy-focused coins such as XMR. The group specifically urged the Treasury to drop proposed measures against crypto mixers, which are compatible with XMR, stressing that restrictive regulations could drive legitimate users offshore. Additional recommendations include clearer tax guidelines for staking and mining rewards and a de minimis exemption for small crypto payments.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, notes that Monero (XMR) faces persistent short-term selling pressure, with price hovering just under the MA-20. While major indicators suggest positive momentum, Kharitonov is skeptical given the recent volatility and conflicting signals from oversold oscillators. Regulatory uncertainties, especially proposed US actions on privacy and mixing, add material risk for XMR holders. The market appears vulnerable to deeper corrections if supports break. "Traders should remain defensive as regulatory and technical headwinds could quickly reverse the current bullish sentiment," warns Kharitonov.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees Monero in a strong medium- and long-term position. Despite some regulatory noise, he highlights that the market structure remains bullish with key supports intact and momentum picking up. Ongoing advocacy for clearer US regulations and industry cooperation signal institutional interest and could unlock new adoption opportunities. Karapetjanc emphasizes potential for further upside if resistance at $392.45 is surpassed. "The bullish structure remains intact, and I expect continued upward movement as the broader market supports further growth," he states.

Parshwa Turakhiya, analyst, believes XMR offers intriguing short-term setups as oscillators indicate oversold conditions while momentum drivers like MACD point higher. Turakhiya notes the strong bounce from support reflects shifting sentiment in favor of buyers, yet the risk of sharp pullbacks remains if the price fails near resistance. He sees intraday volatility opening the door for range-trading strategies this week. "With mixed momentum signals and a market wrestling for direction, nimble traders can find short-term opportunities both ways," Turakhiya says.

Diverging momentum and oversold signals raise pullback risk

Momentum is broadly positive with MACD and ADX on the D1 showing buy signals, while daily RSI and CCI indicate oversold conditions. Stoch RSI and BBP also flag an oversold market, suggesting sellers have dominated recently, but the Awesome Oscillator remains neutral. The current price is up 11.11% ($37.07), opening slightly above the previous close (no significant gap), now trading near today’s high after high intraday volatility and steady strength toward session highs. Momentum signals are mixed, with oversold oscillators conflicting with upward momentum, indicating possible divergence and the risk of near-term pullbacks as buyers test the upper end of the range.

Previously it was noted that Monero's Fluorine Fermi network update enhanced security and efficiency, while sellers dominated market action amidst regulatory scrutiny. Last time we reported that persistent pressure shaped short-term expectations for the asset.
