Bernstein sets bullish view on Affirm
As reported by CNBC, citing Bernstein, the investment firm has initiated coverage of Affirm with an outperform rating and a price target of $100 per share, implying about 34% upside from Tuesday’s close.Analyst Harshita Rawat says Affirm sits at a "unique intersection" of several tailwinds, including an expanding total addressable market, compounding network effects and multiple optionalities. In a note to clients on Tuesday, she says one of the largest potential drivers for the stock is Affirm’s ability to serve a sizable and continually evolving buy now, pay later market.
Rawat adds that Affirm’s product expansion is broadening that addressable market into new verticals, channels and merchants, supporting the company’s longer-term growth case.
U.S. payments adoption supports sector outlook
Bernstein says buy now, pay later currently accounts for about 5% of e-commerce sales in the U.S. and roughly 1% of overall card spending, leaving significant room for wider adoption. The note says the payment method is positioned to gain further traction with U.S. shoppers, especially as major e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Shopify use BNPL offerings to lift conversion rates and order values.
Bernstein’s view is broadly aligned with Wall Street sentiment. LSEG data shows 25 of the 34 analysts covering Affirm rate the stock a buy or strong buy, while the shares have traded flat in 2026.
