Highlights

  • The Israel Innovation Authority has initiated a NIS 1 billion fast-track fund to help technology firms affected by shekel strength eroding USD-denominated operating runways.
  • Financial firms like iFOREX have reported significant declines in USD-based profits due to the shekel reaching multi-decade highs against the dollar.
  • Technical indicators point to continued short-term bullish momentum for USD/ILS, with a projected five-day range of ₪3.0361 to ₪3.0845 and key support at ₪3.0505.

Corporate runways shorten and profits fall due to shekel gains

The strengthening of the Israeli shekel against the US dollar has driven the Israel Innovation Authority to launch a NIS 1 billion ($322 million) fast-track funding program to assist technology companies whose runways have been impacted by exchange rate volatility. Startups and global firms with shekel-denominated expenses are feeling the effects, as reflected in reduced operating runways and adjusted cost structures. Additionally, the financial trading firm iFOREX reported a substantial drop in USD-based profits for the first half of 2026, citing the stronger shekel and a multi-decade low in the USD/ILS rate.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, points out that despite the recent rally in USD/ILS, sustained shekel strength exposes vulnerabilities in Israel’s tech and trading sectors. He sees government fast-track funds as a temporary fix, not a true solution to weakened profitability and operational risks from sharp exchange swings. Kharitonov notes that technical signals are bullish short-term, but longer-term alignment still favors caution due to the bearish trend and external macro pressure. He highlights that a break below ₪3.0505 could trigger further downside tests. "I believe traders should prepare for higher volatility and avoid chasing rallies until there’s clarity on policy and macro stability," says Kharitonov.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, is confident that the fundamental and macro backdrop supports further USD/ILS strength. He highlights Israel’s proactive response with a NIS 1 billion stimulus as a catalyst for business resilience and renewed tech investment. Karapetjanc notes constructive sentiment and strong technical momentum reinforce a bullish market structure. He sees room for USD/ILS to test upper ranges, especially on any break above resistance. "I expect the market will reward proactive policy and offer attractive long setups as bullish momentum persists," says Karapetjanc.

Jainam Mehta, market strategist, sees USD/ILS in consolidation mode, with both technical and macro factors driving tight range trading. He notes that the alignment above major moving averages tilts the bias upward but advises caution given volatility and event-driven risks. Mehta believes tactical plays around the ₪3.0505 support and ₪3.0609 resistance could offer near-term opportunities. "There’s potential for a breakout, but I recommend waiting for confirmation before taking directional bets," says Mehta.

Sustained bullish momentum as moving averages align with intraday buyers

USD/ILS is trading above its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages (MA-20: ₪3.0301, MA-50: ₪2.9745, MA-200: ₪3.0505), indicating short-, medium-, and long-term bullish pressure. The 200-day moving average at ₪3.0505 serves as the near-term floor, with resistance at the recent high of ₪3.0609. Overall alignment of moving averages still points to a bearish longer-term trend. Momentum is constructive, with both the MACD and ADX signaling 'Buy' and pointing to strong upward momentum. The RSI at 59.95 and CCI at 80.71 remain in neutral to moderately bullish territory without signaling overbought conditions, while Stochastic RSI stays neutral. Bull/Bear Power above zero shows buyers dominate intraday momentum. USD/ILS climbed ₪0.0192 or 0.63% today after an upside gap of about 0.21%, trading near session highs. Intraday volatility is 1.26%, and short-term signals confirm a firm upward tone.

Earlier, analysts noted that persistent bearish sentiment was dominating USD/ILS amid technical pressure and emergency support measures for Israel's tech sector. The current shift to a bullish short-term momentum, despite lingering longer-term risks, suggests traders should monitor for a sustained breakout above ₪3.0609 as confirmation of renewed upside potential.
