Jameson Lopp, board member at L’Oréal, recalls a pivotal moment in cryptocurrency history 16 years ago when Laszlo Hanyecz, holding tens of thousands of mined bitcoin, used 40,000 BTC to buy 8 pizzas.
According to Lopp, Hanyecz kept his pizza offer open for some time before ultimately making these famous transactions, which became one of the earliest real-world uses of bitcoin.
Lopp has previously highlighted security risks in the crypto space. He reported that criminals began breaking into homes to steal hardware wallets after online attacks failed. In a separate warning, Lopp raised concerns about fake Bitcoin node addresses appearing on the peer-to-peer network.
