Anchor from low not trade trigger

Brian Shannon, founder and full-time trader at AlphaTrends, comments that anchoring from the low point in the market is not necessarily a signal to initiate trades.

He suggests that traders should exercise caution and not rely solely on such technical levels when making market decisions involving SPY, QQQ, SMH, and IWM.

Shannon recently noted that SPY dipped below its rising 5SMA, while QQQ and SMH maintained strength and IWM was flagged as a near-term avoid, with attention on the May low levels in his recent market update. Separately, he introduced new contributors at Alphatrends and announced a Memorial Day sale for 2026 valued at $3,101, according to a company update.
