Andy Constan: Leveraged ETF flows create day trading volatility
Leveraged ETF flows spur market chop

Andy Constan, founder and strategist at Damped Spring Macro, highlights the impact of overnight gaps on day trading.

Constan states that when markets open higher, continuous demand from leveraged ETF rebalancing, especially in SOX and QQQ, fuels volatility throughout the day. Conversely, downward gaps can lead to sustained selling pressure, resulting in choppy intraday sessions that ultimately disadvantage leveraged ETFs.

Constan has previously highlighted challenges for investors during periods of heightened market stress, noting sharp losses in long BTC and MSTR trades during a downturn. In an earlier analysis, he pointed out that debates over Google's equity raises have missed the ongoing practice of issuing shares to employees. These observations form part of Constan’s continuing focus on market mechanics and investor behavior.
