Andre Cronje, chief technology officer at Sonic Labs (formerly known as Fantom), discussed a key technical question about blockchain development. He addressed why rebuilding an entire technology stack may be necessary instead of combining existing protocols.
Cronje explained that, while users can interact with current blockchain protocols, simply stitching them together has inherent limitations. He began by outlining what is currently achievable by using existing protocols, suggesting that some functionalities cannot be achieved without building from scratch.
Cronje previously shared that USDC and USDT can earn 13.74% APY on Ethereum via ftUSD, with available capacity for new deposits. He has also highlighted earning yields up to 18.50 percent for USDC or USSD on Ethereum and Sonic. BTC and ETH borrowing rates in those protocols remain below 1 percent.
