Scott Lincicome questions the ongoing usefulness of the Jones Act, suggesting that while it may have had value in 1920, it now hampers the national economy.
He proposes that Congress should at least consider eliminating the Jones Act for energy markets, if not removing it entirely.
Lincicome has previously criticized the financial efficiency of government programs. He highlighted the rising cost of farm subsidies and flagged a 45 percent improper payment rate in the Emergency Conservation Program as wasteful. In another instance, he noted that Lutnick postponed the opening of a Canada-U.S. bridge to seek a bigger share of toll revenue.
