BIS says stablecoins partly substitute deposits

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has confirmed that stablecoins act as partial substitutes for bank deposits, according to a tweet by Scott Melker.

BIS findings show that higher deposit rates can cut stablecoin growth by up to 9 percentage points.

Melker previously reported on Barclays’ projection that Tesla and SpaceX could announce a merger before December 2026. He has also covered TD Cowen’s increased BTC price targets of $109,000 by 2026 and $280,000 by 2029. These updates reflect Melker’s ongoing coverage of key financial forecasts and institutional outlooks.
