Microsoft gains support from Nvidia as AI infrastructure cycle strengthens
MSFT is trading around $503 on August 27, supported by Nvidia’s strong earnings and improving sentiment across the AI sector. Nvidia beat expectations for quarterly revenue and issued a strong outlook, confirming that demand for AI infrastructure remains high.

For Microsoft, this is a positive signal primarily because it reduces concerns about a sharp slowdown in corporate spending on computing capacity. At the same time, the market is increasingly viewing MSFT not simply as a standalone bet on Copilot or OpenAI, but as one of the main beneficiaries of the ongoing investment cycle in data centers and enterprise AI. An important factor is Microsoft’s ability to bring already ordered capacity online quickly.
Capacity expansion becomes key operational test
The company expects Azure growth of around 45% in constant currency in the current quarter, while demand continues to exceed available capacity. Over the past fiscal year, Microsoft brought 88 data centers online, while the time from GPU delivery to equipment deployment in its largest regions was nearly cut in half.
Therefore, the main near-term operational risk is not a lack of customers, but possible delays in connecting new facilities to power grids, equipment deliveries, and the speed at which infrastructure investment is converted into paid cloud workloads. This factor may become more important for the stock than another increase in overall CapEx.
Treasury yields limit valuation upside
The macro backdrop today is rather neutral for MSFT. Initial jobless claims fell to 203,000, confirming the resilience of the U.S. labor market, while core PCE remained at 3.3% y/y yesterday. In other words, the corporate economy remains strong enough to support IT budgets, but inflation at the same time does not allow the market to expect rapid rate cuts.
The 10-year Treasury yield is trading around 4.65-4.67% today, while the 30-year yield is near 5.17%. These levels are still high for stocks whose valuations depend heavily on future earnings, so the positive effect from Nvidia’s strong results is being partially offset by the cost of capital. A more noticeable decline in the 10-year yield below 4.60% would be a much stronger catalyst for MSFT than its current movement within a narrow range.
$510 remains key breakout level
As a result, the short-term balance for MSFT looks moderately positive, but for a different reason than immediately after the earnings report. The market has received additional confirmation from Nvidia that the AI cycle remains resilient, while the next question is whether Microsoft can expand its physical infrastructure quickly enough to capitalize on this demand.
As long as the stock holds above the $485-490 area, buyers retain the opportunity to retest $510, while a sustained move above it, as I warned in Microsoft nears $500 as investors seek clearer AI profitability, would open the way toward $520 and beyond. A return below $480, especially alongside another rise in Treasury yields, would once again increase the risk of a correction toward $470-460.
