BT Group shares target GBX 220 as AI-RAN plans support momentum
BT Group is extending its recovery after breaking above a key resistance level, while AI-RAN plans support the longer-term story. The next test is whether buyers can push into the GBX 220–225 zone before earnings raise volatility.
Fresh questions have emerged over BT Group’s acquisition of TalkTalk and PlatformX. As reported by The Times, Lutz Schüler, the CEO of Virgin Media O2, criticized the swift process of approvals and called for a more detailed investigation into the consequences of the transaction for competition.
At the same time, BT’s technology strategy continues to provide a more constructive backdrop. On 27 October, all eyes were once again on BT’s plans for AI-RAN joint trials together with Nvidia and Nokia. As per the official statement from BT, the first test sites are scheduled to be launched in Birmingham in 2027. The purpose of this initiative is to utilize artificial intelligence to enhance the performance of the mobile network.

Break above GBX 210 puts the GBX 220–225 liquidity zone in focus
BT Group shares are following the scenario outlined previously, with the price managing to establish itself above key resistance at GBX 210. The next target is the GBX 220–225 liquidity zone.
One potential technical obstacle is the RSI (14), which is now approaching overbought territory. If the shares continue towards the target area, the indicator could move fully into overbought conditions.
A drop below GBX 207 would invalidate this setup and weaken the technical structure. In that case, the next downside levels would be the 200-day SMA near GBX 204 and the 50-day SMA at GBX 201.8.
November 5 earnings could test the strength of the recovery
Another major catalyst will come from the half-year results of BT Group on 5 November, when attention will be focused on the Openreach division, capital expenditure, and the TalkTalk acquisition effect.
Cash flow will also be closely scrutinised, particularly as BT continues to invest heavily in telecom infrastructure.
Volatility could rise as the earnings announcement gets closer. While the current recovery is sustained, some investors may want to take their profits, especially if the results or guidance does not meet expectations.
