Biography

Paul Rotter, widely known as "The Flipper," is a highly influential figure in the trading world, particularly renowned for his work in bond futures trading. Born in the Czech Republic, he moved to Germany at the age of 9. His trading career began at HypoVereinsbank in Munich, where he worked as an apprentice on the bond desk. After gaining experience at Daiwa Securities, he became famous for his innovative trading strategies on the Eurex exchange. Rotter earned his nickname "The Flipper" due to his unique method of placing large orders on one side of the market and then flipping his position when other traders followed. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, he was the largest trader of German debt futures and often executed up to 100,000-200,000 trades per day. In 1998, he co-founded a proprietary trading firm, which quickly earned significant profits, and later established his own fund management company, Rotter Invest, in Switzerland. Over the years, Rotter has transitioned to mid-term and long-term trading strategies, as algorithmic trading and regulatory changes made his high-frequency methods less viable. Despite changes in the market, his discipline, adaptability, and ability to manage risk have kept him at the forefront of the trading community
