With more than 20 years of expertise in ophthalmology, gene therapy, and retinal disease development, Dr. Genead is expected to strengthen the company’s efforts in advancing innovative therapies for patients. Ocugen, Inc. cited his extensive leadership experience as a driver for the next phase of corporate growth.

Ocugen, Inc. is advancing its pipeline of gene therapies targeting rare retinal diseases. The company is developing OCU410ST, an early-stage gene therapy for Stargardt disease, which affects 100,000 patients with no FDA approved options, according to a recent company update. Ocugen is also preparing a regulatory submission for OCU400 as a potential one-time gene therapy for retinitis pigmentosa, aiming for broad genetic impact, as outlined in an earlier statement.
