Nano Nuclear advances KRONOS MMR

Nano Nuclear Energy announced further progress in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) review of its KRONOS Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) program in collaboration with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The company stated that licensing activities are advancing, supporting the opportunity to initiate initial construction activities in the second half of 2027.

Nano Nuclear Energy previously teamed up with the University of Illinois to build a full-scale KRONOS Micro Modular Reactor prototype. The company has also named Jennifer Charlton as vice president of fuel technology to advance its vertical integration strategy, according to an earlier report on the executive appointment. Both initiatives support Nano Nuclear’s ongoing development and regulatory activities.
