Top Bitcoin holders

Arkham data reveals the top Bitcoin holders as of April 2026.

Satoshi Nakamoto—wallets attributed to the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin contain 1,096,361 BTC—approximately 5.48% of the tracked supply—currently valued at around $82 billion.

Coinbase ranks second with 976,155 BTC, representing 4.88% of the tracked supply and worth about $73 billion.

BlackRock holds third place with 799,151 BTC (3.99%, ~$60 billion), largely driven by strong inflows into its spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Binance holds 631,153 BTC (3.15%, ~$47 billion), mostly customer deposits in cold storage.

Fidelity Custody manages 454,660 BTC (2.27%, ~$34 billion).

Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) owns 445,569 BTC (2.23%, ~$33 billion) and continues to aggressively accumulate Bitcoin as a corporate treasury asset.

The U.S. Government holds 328,361 BTC (1.64%, ~$25 billion), accumulated through seizures from criminal activity.

What the data reveals

Most of Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin was mined in the network’s early years and has remained largely untouched since then, fueling ongoing speculation about the creator’s identity and the security of these long-dormant coins.

In contrast, institutional players and corporations have significantly increased their holdings in recent years, particularly following the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in 2024. The data highlights the growing influence of traditional finance institutions in the Bitcoin market.

Arkham’s analysis is based on on-chain clustering and address attribution, though it does not capture all unlabelled wallets. As a result, the true distribution of Bitcoin ownership may differ.

Growing institutional influence

The latest ranking underscores the increasing concentration of Bitcoin among a relatively small number of identifiable entities.

While Satoshi’s dormant coins represent a unique historical artifact, the rising holdings of exchanges, asset managers, and corporations signal Bitcoin’s deepening integration into traditional financial markets.
