Validator plan and AI positioning
The Block reported that former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said crypto will be the "native currency for AI" and described BNB Chain as a network he wants to see play a larger role in that development.Speaking at a media briefing on Monday after BNB Standard's Nasdaq opening bell ceremony, Zhao said AI systems could use bitcoin, current stablecoins or future tokens issued by AI companies. He added that he wants BNB Chain to become a major network for those activities, though he said that goal still needs to be achieved.
Zhao also said he had discussed tokens linked to computing resources earlier in the day and wants to bring those onto BNB Chain, without giving further details. BNB Standard, formerly CEA Industries, is also marking its recent name change and the appointment of Alex Odagiu as chief executive.
Public company strategy and market backdrop
BNB Standard says it plans to build an operating business on BNB Chain, beginning with running its own validator. Odagiu said during the bell ceremony that the company is not in the market simply to hold the asset, but to develop business activity on the network. At the briefing, Odagiu pointed to payments and AI agents as possible future sources of activity, while stressing that BNB Standard is not currently a payments company. Zhao said crypto payments still remain cumbersome for average users, citing friction between the tokens users hold and the assets merchants accept, and argued that startups should focus first on underserved markets and remittance routes rather than trying to compete directly with Apple Pay or Google Pay in the U.S.
BNB Standard currently holds more than 515,400 BNB, valued at about $383.5 million, giving it the largest BNB treasury among publicly traded companies. The Nasdaq bell ceremony follows a governance overhaul in June, when the company ended a proxy fight with its largest shareholder, YZi Labs, and added Odagiu, Ella Zhang and Matthew Roszak to its board; BNC shares trade around $5.36 on Monday and remain down nearly 17% year to date.
