Washington and Warsaw deepen their bilateral agenda at the 16th round of the U.S.-Poland Strategic Dialogue in Warsaw, with talks spanning security, energy and economic coordination. The meeting also comes as both countries discuss regional security during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and broader efforts to secure supply chains and investment conditions.

Highlights

  • U.S. Under Secretary Allison Hooker and Polish Deputy FM Robert Kupiecki lead talks advancing defense industrial cooperation to improve interoperability and economic growth.
  • The U.S. and Poland expand energy collaboration, supporting LNG delivery, civil nuclear projects, and Poland's ambition to be a regional LNG hub with a north-south supply focus.
  • A new Critical Minerals Framework is signed to secure supply chains, while the U.S. supports Poland's G20 ambitions and joint efforts on technology security and infrastructure protection.

Strategic talks widen bilateral cooperation

As reported by the U.S. Department of State, the latest round of the dialogue is led by Under Secretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker and Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Kupiecki, and it centers on security and defense ties, regional energy resilience and economic growth.

The two sides reaffirm their commitment to stronger security cooperation, including mutual self-defense and deterrence, while exploring new areas for transatlantic defense industrial cooperation. They say closer defense industry ties are intended to improve interoperability, strengthen Poland's military capabilities and create economic opportunities in both countries.

Officials also deepen their exchange on regional security as the Russia-Ukraine war continues. Both governments describe the broader U.S.-Poland relationship as strong and growing.

Energy, supply chains and investment agenda

The dialogue also expands cooperation on energy security, including the secure delivery of liquefied natural gas, LNG, to the region and support for civil nuclear energy projects involving U.S. companies to raise electricity generation in Poland.

The United States expresses support for Poland's ambition to become a regional LNG hub, part of a wider shift away from the historically vulnerable east-west dependency model toward a more diversified north-south system. Both sides commit to working together on reliable, affordable and secure energy supplies for Poland and the wider region.

During the meeting, the two countries sign the Critical Minerals Framework and agree to work together on securing critical minerals supply chains. They also stress deeper cooperation on technology security, including reducing reliance on high-risk vendors in sensitive sectors and protecting critical infrastructure from foreign interference.

On the economic front, the United States and Poland back a more competitive, innovation-driven economy and call for streamlined regulation that supports entrepreneurship, trade and investment. Poland welcomes its invitation to participate in G20 work during the U.S. presidency, while the United States supports Poland's bid to join the G20 as a permanent member.
