Romania steps up security response
As reported by President Nicușor Dan in a post on X, the Romanian government is convening its national defense council after the drone collision in Galați early on Friday, and is preparing what he describes as proportionate measures in relation to the Russian Federation. Dan says full responsibility lies with Russia and criticizes what he calls Moscow's indiscriminate operation of weapon systems near NATO borders and its disregard for international law.Dan says Romania's armed forces follow established procedure and are under firm orders to shoot down the drone as soon as conditions allow, but a decision is ultimately made not to engage because of the heightened risk to civilian safety.
