EBRD backs Kazakh expansion

Kazakhstan continues to attract development finance aimed at upgrading industrial and agricultural supply chains across Central Asia. Eurasian Machinery Kazakhstan is receiving up to $10 million from the EBRD to support working capital, service expansion and staff training tied to equipment distribution and maintenance.

Highlights

  • EBRD extends a $10 million loan to Eurasian Machinery Kazakhstan to strengthen inventory management, secure spare parts, and expand service operations in Central Asia.
  • Eurasian Machinery Kazakhstan, an official Hitachi Construction Machinery distributor, will use the funding for long-term working capital and technical staff training programmes.
  • EBRD has invested nearly $13.6 billion across 361 projects in Kazakhstan, making it the bank's largest investment market in Central Asia.

Financing supports inventory, repairs and service expansion

As reported by EBRD, citing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the financing is intended to strengthen the operations of Eurasian Machinery Kazakhstan, a supplier of excavators and other specialist equipment serving agriculture, construction, infrastructure and mining customers.

Eurasian Machinery Kazakhstan, an official distributor of Hitachi Construction Machinery and other internationally recognised industrial brands, is using the loan to cover long-term working capital needs. The funds are set to help the company manage warehouse stock more effectively, secure spare parts for repair and rebuild work, and expand its service department.

The project also enables the company to scale up its activities in Kazakhstan and elsewhere in Central Asia. It includes tailor-made training programmes designed to improve the technical skills of staff.

Kazakhstan remains EBRD's largest Central Asia market

The transaction adds to the EBRD's long-running investment activity in Kazakhstan, where the bank says it has invested nearly $13.6 billion through 361 projects to date. That makes the country the largest and longest-running recipient of EBRD investment in Central Asia.

For the regional machinery and industrial services market, the funding supports broader efforts to improve equipment availability, maintenance capacity and operational efficiency in sectors that are closely tied to infrastructure development and resource production.

We also noted the related role of CIDB-linked support in helping suppliers navigate approvals and product certification, aiming to improve procurement efficiency and quality control without replacing existing regulatory requirements.
