Larry Tabb suggests that issues surrounding prediction markets and gaming contracts are more nuanced than commonly perceived.
In his view, the core issue is not prediction markets covering sports but rather brokerage companies allowing clients to access gaming or contract types prone to manipulation. Tabb proposes that limiting broker access to such gaming contracts and separating them from more finance-related contracts could help mitigate manipulation concerns.
Tabb has previously commented on disruptions to traditional financial institutions. In a past analysis, he argued that stablecoins paying interest would disrupt U.S. banks. He wrote that such products could reduce deposits and impact banks’ lending activity.
