Spencer Hakimian, CEO at Tolou Capital Management, claims that most U.S. hospitals do not consistently pursue or report unpaid medical bills.
In his comments, Hakimian suggests that unpaid medical expenses are unlikely to be aggressively collected and often have only temporary effects on individuals' credit scores. He adds that, in some cases, patients may settle their debts later at a sharply reduced amount or avoid payment entirely.
