Ethereum faced $60M hack and major fork, Emin Sirer warns
Emin Sirer, CEO / Founder at Ava Labs, recounts issuing a real-time warning a decade ago about a major vulnerability while working in Google Docs as a group of anonymous observers watched.
Three weeks after this warning, a hacker managed to drain $60 million and 15% of all ether was at risk, which prompted the Ethereum blockchain to fork in order to survive.
Sirer has previously compared Avalanche to Bitcoin, stating in an interview that Avalanche is suited for advanced technological development. He has also argued that blockchain reorganizations are not possible on Avalanche. These comments reflect his ongoing focus on blockchain security and architecture.
