Retail trading volumes jump 28 percent

Brian Sozzi, reporter / analyst at Yahoo Finance, shares that Goldman Sachs estimates retail trading volumes have risen by 28% since mid-April. Over the same period, a basket of stocks popular with retail traders has rallied by 29%.

Earlier this month, Sozzi highlighted stronger-than-expected results from Apple, Nvidia and Chipotle during earnings season. He also noted the year-to-date climb of U.S. equities from the bottom quartile to a middle-tier performance globally. Both developments have contributed to increased market attention on retail-driven activity.
