Bitcoin Pizza Day marks 16 years

Simon Gerovich marks Bitcoin Pizza Day, noting that 16 years ago, Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two pizzas for 10,000 BTC. At the time, the transaction was valued at approximately 4,000 yen, but the same amount of BTC is now worth about 123 billion yen.

Gerovich points out that someone had to make the first move to use cryptocurrency as a medium of exchange.

Gerovich has previously pointed to a growing divide between holders and non-holders of Bitcoin, predicting the gap will widen significantly in the future here. He has also discussed various yen stablecoin launches expected in 2026, highlighting upcoming projects including JPYC, JPYSC, and initiatives from major banks here. These comments come as digital assets gain traction in both retail and institutional settings.
