At 10:00 a.m., the S&P 500 was down 0.4 percent, but by 10:30 a.m., it had recovered to gain 0.4 percent, underlining rapid intraday volatility.

Last week, Tuchman reported the S&P 500 lost $1.6 trillion in market capitalization over five trading days, according to his previous post. He has also covered shifts in other major indexes. In May, Tuchman noted the Dow Jones closed at a record high, as detailed here.
