Edward Dowd, founding partner at OceanSquare Asset Mgmt and ex-BlackRock executive, warns that double-digit percentage price increases announced by a company for its consumer phones may lead to demand destruction.
The comment follows a Bloomberg report indicating those price hikes have been communicated to customers.
Dowd has recently flagged other notable market moves. He highlighted that the Japanese yen reached its lowest level since 1986, raising intervention risk. Earlier this year, he also noted that semiconductors and tech hardware contributed significantly to the S&P 500’s total return.
