German and French yields reach record highs

Lisa Abramowicz, journalist, co-host on Bloomberg TV/Radio, reports that German 10-year yields have climbed to their highest point since 2011.

She points out that French 10-year borrowing costs are also at their highest since 2008, leading the yield spread between the two to widen to the greatest level in almost two years. According to Abramowicz, traders are showing increasing intolerance for high fiscal deficits.

Abramowicz previously reported that Bloomberg's U.S. Financial Conditions index reached its loosest level since the 1990s, indicating highly accommodative markets at the time. She also highlighted when the VIX and bond-market volatility dropped to notably low points. Both observations came as market participants were warning of possible shifts ahead.
