U.S. debt interest costs reach $1.36 trillion

Gross interest costs on U.S. debt for fiscal 2026 totaled $1.36 trillion, with an average interest rate of 3.53%, according to Treasury data.

Peter Spina, who is CEO of GoldSeek.com, commented that the true cost of financing more than $40 trillion in U.S. debt is not yet fully reflected by current market rates.

Spina previously described silver as a strong buy at current levels, noting rising mining costs and projecting higher all-in sustaining costs for producers in his recent analysis. He also commented on Black Mammoth Metals' debut on the U.S. Nasdaq following its C$24 million funding round and portfolio in the Western U.S., as reported in another article. Spina continues to comment on costs and financing trends across asset classes.
