Highlights

  • NEAR/USD trades below short- and medium-term moving averages, indicating prevailing selling pressure intraday.
  • Momentum and oscillators indicate continued weakness with no overbought signals and sellers dominating the session.
  • NEAR price is projected to remain volatile and rangebound between $2.2825 and $2.575 over the next 2 to 3 sessions.

Weak momentum signals deepen as price nears technical resistance

On the technical front, NEAR/USD is trading below the MA-20 at $2.4069 and MA-50 at $2.4052 on the hourly chart, while remaining above the MA-200 at $1.7294. The Ichimoku Kijun at $2.4625 serves as immediate resistance. Momentum indicators paint a weak picture: RSI reads 42.95 (Sell), MACD is on a Sell signal, and ADX is Neutral, suggesting the trend lacks strength. Stoch RSI is Neutral, CCI is signaling Sell, and Bull/Bear Power reinforces intraday selling dominance; Awesome Oscillator also backs continued downward movement. Price action is characterized by significant intraday volatility and a pronounced gap lower.

Rangebound outlook persists amid elevated volatility risks

Looking ahead over the next two to three sessions, NEAR is forecast to trade within a range of $2.2825 to $2.575 as volatility persists. The baseline scenario calls for continued rangebound movement. A bullish outcome would require a decisive break above the $2.4625 resistance, while a bearish extension could emerge if the price falls below $2.2825 support.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees NEAR locked in a volatile, short-term downtrend but still above key long-term support. He notes that momentum is weak and selling pressure dominates, yet longer-term levels have not broken. The technical outlook suggests consolidation while awaiting a true directional move. In his view, a clear upside opportunity only appears if resistance at $2.4625 is overcome. "I remain constructive while NEAR holds above $2.2825, but confirmation above $2.4625 would signal real bullish momentum," says Karapetjanc.

Earlier, analysts noted that NEAR’s strengthening technical structure and sustained ecosystem development positioned the asset for ongoing bullish momentum. However, with current price action showing increased volatility and key indicators now pointing to weakness, traders should monitor the $2.2825 support level for potential downside risk in the near term.
