U.S. Small Business Administration marks National Small Business Week at White House summit

White House event opens weeklong program
As reported by the U.S. Small Business Administration, Administrator Kelly Loeffler joins President Donald J. Trump at a Small Business Summit at the White House to recognize National Small Business Week 2026. The event highlights the role of small firms across sectors including manufacturing, construction, retail, and restaurants, with attendees presenting products and meeting with the president.Loeffler says the administration's policy agenda is strengthening conditions for small companies to hire, reinvest, and expand. The SBA says the U.S. has 36 million small businesses, which account for 99% of all businesses, create two out of every three new jobs, and generate about half of U.S. GDP.
Awards and state tour broaden outreach
The SBA begins its National Small Business Week recognition with a National Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C., where it honors state and territory small business owners of the year. The agency also names Mark Lamoncha, president and chief executive of Humtown Products in Columbiana, Ohio, as its National Small Business Owner of the Year, and he is among the awardees recognized at the White House event.The program continues through the week with a free virtual summit and in-person events nationwide. Starting Tuesday, Loeffler is scheduled to travel to Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, and Georgia for state award ceremonies and visits with small businesses.
