New Ethereum confirmation feature delivers fast finality, Vitalik Buterin notes — Ethereum gains new fast confirmation

Vitalik Buterin has introduced a new fast confirmation rule for Ethereum that offers a hard guarantee against block reversion after just one slot, which is 12 seconds.

According to Buterin, this mechanism relies on two main security assumptions: a supermajority of honest participants and network latency under approximately three seconds. While it is slightly less robust than economic finality, the added confirmation speed represents a significant improvement for many Ethereum uses.
